Mercy Sister makes her Final Profession
February 2009
SISTER’S PROFESSION ON INTERNET! Bernie O’Grady, who comes from Hospital, Co. Limerick, made Final Profession of her Vows as a Sister of Mercy at a public ceremony in St. Senan’s Church, Kilrush, Co. Clare on Sunday, August 31. Fr. Michael Drennan, SJ was the chief celebrant. Bishop Willie Walsh, Bishop of Killaloe presided.
Bernie spoke about her Profession as giving witness to her relationship with God and publicly committing to that relationship through being a Sister of Mercy. According to Bernie, it was the most significant day of her life.
During a very moving, solemn and joyful ceremony, Sr. Coirle McCarthy, Congregational Leader for the Sisters of Mercy received her vows. Sr. Coirle welcomed Bernie into the Congregation as a fully professed member. She acknowledged the role of her parents and family in nurturing her vocation during her formative years. The Final Profession was a great day for the O’Grady family, for the Sisters of Mercy and for the people of Kilrush.
