Sister's Profession on the Internet

February 2009

In 2005 Maura Walshe joined the Redemptoristine Order in Dublin. Her journey led her from her native Co. Galway to work and study in the financial sector in London for several years. Throughout her school days she was an ardent sports-person and continued her interest during these years. Maura also enjoyed the social scene and was content. However, tragedy struck the family and this led her through an agonizing evaluation and discernment as to the meaning of life. Her underlying deep faith was brought to the fore again. She returned to live and work in Ireland, more or less drifting along but there also entered a subtle search for God. This brought her to the door of the Monastery enquiring about the possibility of making a retreat and the rest is history.

In her own words Maura says that in this Monastery “ I find my own freedom here; I am not trapped. I love the sense of community, of being with people who will carry who support me when I am down. I have an ever deeper relationship with God that radiates to the whole world in a salvific way”.

Maura will pronounce her temporary vows on the 26 July, 2008 at 12.00 noon Irish time and the ceremony will be transmitted live via web-cam. It will be available on the Monastery web page – www.rednuns.faithweb.com
