Marists

Society of Mary
Living and spreading the Gospel in the spirit of Mary

The Marist Fathers are part of the wider Marist Family of Marist Brothers, Marist Sisters, Marist Laity, Marist Missionary Sisters, and Marist Fathers. Marist's are to be 'instruments of mercy' in today's world in imitation of Mary in the Gospel. In Ireland today Marist's are involved in a wide range of ministries.

Living in community is central to the life of a Marist - a simple lifestyle. Our Marist life takes as its model that of Mary, the mother of Jesus. To be a Marist is to be called and chosen to live the Gospel as Mary did.

The Marian Church does not know the answers before the questions are posed. Her path is not traced out in advance. She knows doubt and unease, night and loneliness. That is the price of trust. She takes her part in the conversation, but makes no claims to know everything. She accepts that she must search.
